Description
Sheer opulence for the front of the border! Dark cherry-red blooms with purple falls, rise above the silvery-green, sword-like foliage. Iris pumila 'Cherry Garden' is a dwarf variety of the ever popular Bearded Iris, thriving in the same sunny, well drained soils as its taller relatives. With a neat clump forming habit, it makes an excellent choice for dotting through gravel gardens, where it shows excellent drought tolerance. Its upright stature is perfect for adding texture and structure to sunny perennial borders. Height and spread: 30cm (12”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
A sunny position in well drained soil is ideal for growing iris. Bearded iris rhizomes prefer an open position where the rhizomes can bake in the summer sun, without being shaded by other plants. These perennials require a very free draining soil, so amend heavy clay soils with plenty of grit and well rotted manure prior to planting. When planting iris, ensure that the rhizome sits just at the soil surface as they are prone to rot if planted too deeply.
More Info
Overcrowded clumps of bearded iris plants can be divided in late summer after flowering. Avoid mulching the rhizomes to prevent them from rotting over winter. Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
