How to Grow
Grow groups of gladioli in sunny, sheltered borders on well drained soil. Gladioli require excellent drainage to prevent them from rotting. Improve heavy soils by adding plenty of well rotted manure and grit prior to planting. Plant gladiolus corms at a depth of 10cm (4") and a distance of 15cm (6") apart. Try staggering planting over a few weeks, for a succession of flowers throughout summer.
More Info
In autumn, allow the foliage to die back naturally before lifting the corms and cleaning them of soil and any remaining stems. Dry them in a well ventilated position for 2 weeks before storing them in a frost-free location for the winter. When growing gladioli in mild areas with particularly well drained soil, it may not be necessary to lift the corms. Apply a dry mulch of bark chips or leaf mould in autumn to protect the corms from cold, wet weather.
