Description

With layers of long, pointed leaves which form a star-like habit, Cryptanthus bivittatus 'Pink Starlight' has adopted familiar common names including Starfish Plant and Pink Starlight Earth Star. Tropical Cryptanthus make fantastic house plants and an attractive living feature in your home. This particular variety is noteworthy for its striking cream and green variegated foliage which is pink-tinged when young. Grow it in any warm, well-lit space, close to a window yet shaded from full direct sunlight. This member of the Bromeliad family is adapted to warm, humid conditions, so rooms with higher humidity levels such as kitchens and bathrooms are favoured. Height: 15cm (6”). Spread: 20cm (8”).

Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Cryptanthus enjoy a warm, bright room with good humidity and a minimum temperature of 15C (60F). Position them in good light away from the direct glare of the sun. Cryptanthus enjoy high humidity - this is best achieved by regularly spraying the foliage with rain water.
More Info
Water frequently to maintain evenly moist compost. Reduce watering during the winter months, but do not allow the compost to dry out completely. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Use a heavily diluted solution of a balanced fertiliser. These Bromeliads will benefit from regular misting to increase humidity.
