Originating in Japan, the Spike Witch Hazel is a low maintenance, deciduous shrub which will soon earn its place in your garden. Delicately scented racemes of yellow flowers hang down from bare stems in late winter or early spring, followed by deep red leaf shoots which turn dark green as the foliage appears. A spreading variety, Corylopsis spicata will be ideal at the back of a border or as part of a shrubbery or woodland garden. Height: 200cm (79"). Spread: 300cm (118").

How to Grow

Grow Corylopsis spicata in any well drained soil in sun or semi shade.

More Info

Feed and water regularly after planting. Protect young leaf shoots from late winter frosts to prevent damage. Once established, Spike Witch Hazel requires virtually no maintenance.
