Description

Pilea peperomioides, also known as the Chinese money plant or the missionary plant, makes for a handsome addition to any shelf or window ledge and would be sure to liven up a workspace. The rounded, glossy leaves of this tender perennial surround a central, upright stem, remaining neat and compact in habit. In summer, sprays of tiny creamy-pink flowers are produced above the foliage creating a frothy appearance. This tough little plant is surprisingly easy to grow, enjoying a lightly shaded position in a warm room. Height and spread: 50cm (20")

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.

How to Grow
Grow Chinese Money Plants in a lightly shaded position away from the glare of direct sun. Pilea requires a frost free position in a cool room or conservatory, with a minimum temperature of 5C (41F).
More Info
Pilea can be moved outdoors during the summer months and returned to a frost free position in autumn. Water little and often to keep the compost reliably moist between spring and autumn. Allow the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to dry out completely. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth.
