Description

Imagine growing two different varieties of cherry on one tree. Even better - this compact little cherry tree will fit on your patio or balcony! Our novel duo fruit trees are perfect for small spaces and make excellent container plants. Two varieties are grafted onto one stem to create the perfect partnership which will pollinate each other to produce good crop yields. Despite being dwarf trees, the fruits will be of normal size. Duo Cherry combines two dessert varieties, 'Regina' and 'Sunburst', both with a fabulous, sweet flavour. If grown in containers, these naturally dwarf trees will reach a mature height of just 1.5-1.8m.

  • Cherry rootstocks:
  • Gisella 5 - Dwarf reaching a mature height of up to 2m (6',6")
  • Gisella 6 - Semi vigorous reaching a mature height of up to 4m (13')
  • Colt - Semi vigorous reaching a mature height of 5m (16')
  • Prunus avium - Vigorous reaching a mature height of 6m (20') or more

This variety is self-fertile and does not require a pollination partner.

Estimated time to cropping once planted: 2 years.
Estimated time to best yields: 4 years.

Please note: Patio trees are derived from clonal selections for dwarfism which ensures a particularly compact growth habit.

How to Grow
Plant patio fruit trees in 60cm (2’) diameter containers using a good quality compost such as John innes No.3. Alternatively plant them in any well drained soil in a sheltered sunny position. Plant fruit trees at their original soil level, firm them into the ground and water well.
More Info
Feed and water containerised plants regularly. For pruning advice, please see individual product pages. Most fruits trees should be pruned during the winter months when the plants are dormant. However, care should be taken when pruning cherry trees to avoid winter pruning as this leaves cherry trees prone to silver leaf disease.
