Description
Carex elata 'Aurea' is one of the showiest sedges. This attractive perennial grass forms clumps of gently arching, golden foliage edged with contrasting green margins. From late spring this RHS AGM variety throws up feathery brown blooms on tall stems. Native to Britain, Bowles' Golden Sedge makes a fine ornamental for planting in wet soil around shaded ponds where the variegated foliage is at its best. Height: 70cm (28"). Spread: 45cm (18"). Planting depth: Zones 1, 2 & 3 to 20cm below water level.

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow

Carex are very easy to maintain. Trim away the foliage that has died back in autumn to maintain a tidy appearance. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Sedge in Spring.
