Indoor begonias are the latest hot houseplant trend. They’re surprisingly easy to grow and propagate and offer an incredible variety of leaf textures and patterns making them ideal for collections. Begonia 'Spacestars Maia' forms a neat cushion of deeply lobed foliage composed of silvery leaves with olive green veins and flushes of pinky-purple at the margins. It's the perfect size for a tabletop or low shelf and will tolerate lower light levels than many other houseplants. In summer, it can be grown outside in the shade as a patio feature alongside bedding. Height and spread: 30cm (12in).
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Place your Begonia in a bright spot that is not in direct sunlight – an east or west-facing windowsill is ideal. Water regularly but avoid overwatering or letting the plant sit in water. Aim the water directly onto the compost, avoiding splashing the leaves as much as possible. Feed fortnightly between May and September with a plant food that is high in potassium (for cane-types where abundant flowering is most important) or high in nitrogen (for rex-type or foliage varieties). Reduce watering in winter, allowing the surface of the compost to begin to dry out before watering again. In winter keep your begonias above a minimum temperature of 13°C. Plants can be brought outside in summer once night temperature reliably exceeds this.
