Description
Begonia rex ‘Escargot’ is wonderfully glamorous. The swirling variegation makes this variety instantly recognisable! Spirals of olive-green and silver create a hypnotic pattern on the top side of each leaf, while underside is covered in a soft down of pink hairs. Begonia rex hybrids are tender house plants grown for their colourful foliage which brings an exotic feel to your home. In winter, it produces a small pale pink flowers which add to its already colourful display. This exquisite variety enjoys a lightly shaded spot where its leaves are protected from strong sunlight. Height and spread: 30cm (12").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.

How to Grow
Position Begonia rex in a warm room away from cold draughts and radiators, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). Begonia rex requires a bright but lightly shaded spot, well away from the direct glare of the sun.
More Info
Water Begonia rex plants freely between spring and autumn, allowing the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to completely dry out. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth. Begonia rex appreciates a humid atmosphere - stand it on a tray filled with pebbles and water. As the water evaporates it will increase humidity around the plant.
