Description How to Grow More Info Delivery

A very special form of the popular African Lily, 'Lavender Haze' has giant, 25cm (10") flower heads, in an unusual soft lavender colour. Agapanthus is much-loved in the UK, and can often be a reminder of holidays overseas.

An excellent, clump-forming perennial, Agapanthus is ideal for mixed perennial borders or patio pots. Plants are tough, resilient and semi-evergreen. Quick to establish, African Lilies enjoy a sunny border and any type of soil. Height: 1m (39"). Spread: 50cm (19").

Feed and water African Lilies regularly throughout the growing season. Leave faded Agapanthus flower stems intact to enjoy their architectural seed heads during autumn. When the first frost blacken the seed heads, cut the stems back to ground level. Protect plants outdoors from severe winter weather by providing a dry mulch of bark chips or straw in late autumn. Container grown plants can be moved to a frost free position over winter. Divide agapanthus clumps in spring when they become over crowded.
Plant in rich fertile, well drained soil, which is in a position of full sun. To grow Agapanthus plants in patio containers use a soil based compost, such as John Innes No.3 .
