Description
Somewhat smaller in stature than the traditional Horse Chestnut but no less impressive. This round-headed deciduous tree has the same palmate foliage with distinctive leaflets, but tends to be darker green in colour. The upright candelabra blooms are a beautiful rosy-red colour, giving rise to its common name of Red Horse Chestnut. In autumn Aesculus x carnea 'Briotii' produces a small crop of conkers, encased in seed cases that are less spiky than its better known cousin. The Red Horse Chestnut makes a superb landscape tree for parklands and very large gardens. It is tolerant of a wide range of conditions and less susceptible to Horse Chestnut Leaf Miner which has blighted many Horse Chestnuts in recent years. Height: 20m (65’). Spread: 15m (49’).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.
