How to Grow

Acalypha 'Mini Red' is tender, requiring a minimum temperature of 10C (50F). It is best grown in a container that can be moved indoors for the winter months. Alternatively grow it in a warm conservatory or heated greenhouse.

Pot up Acalypha plants into containers of loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Grow them on in warm, frost free conditions. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise Acalypha plants to outdoor conditions before moving them to a sunny or semi shaded position outdoors.

More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. Before the first frosts, return Acalypha plants to a bright warm greenhouse or conservatory for the winter months and water sparingly until spring. Prune stems back by one third in spring.
