Since its introduction in 2018, this British bred fern has really grabbed the spotlight. The new fronds emerge in a lovely rose-bronze shade in spring, maturing to bright golden yellow and green as the summer progresses. The arching fronds of Dryopteris wallichiana 'Jurassic Gold' willl remain semi-evergreen in a sheltered spot. Perfect for adding texture and colour to planting schemes, and making superb ground cover for lightly shaded borders and woodland gardens. This spectacular, hardy fern also makes a fine container plant, either alone or as part of a mixed patio planting. Height: 60cm (24"). Spread: 45cm (18").

How to Grow

Plant Dryopteris in a sheltered spot. Choose a position in dappled shade on fertile, moist, acid or neutral, soil. Dryopteris ferns prefer a soil that is rich in organic matter so add some well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting.

Feed and water ferns regularly until they are fully established. Apply mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost around the crown of each plant in spring.
