Raspberry 'Ruby Falls®' (Summer Fruiting)

Rubus idaeus

Hardy Shrub

  • Hanging basket raspberry
  • 1.5kg of fruit per plant
  • Early summer crops - pick from June
  • Thornless stems for pain-free picking and display

No garden? No allotment? No problem! Following on from the success of Blackberry Black Cascade, Raspberry 'Ruby Falls®' is a fabulous new trailing raspberry which means that gardeners can grow raspberries in containers and hanging baskets on the patio or balcony. Tasty, pinkish berries are sweeter than the supermarket-bought type, and will dangle from the plants in mid-summer. Also makes an interesting specimen for window boxes, perhaps mixed with strawberries and blueberries!

No more struggling with raspberry canes, Raspberry 'Ruby Falls®' will make an attractive and productive garden feature with very little maintenance. The multi-branching floricanes of Raspberry 'Ruby Falls®' need no supporting, and will bear a superb crop of deliciously sweet berries on thornless trailing stems. Spread: 60cm (24").

Grow summer fruiting raspberry plants in a sunny position in any well drained soil. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil.

Water summer fruiting raspberries well, particularly during dry periods. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds.

Water summer fruiting raspberries well, particularly during dry periods. When berries begin to develop, place a net over the plants to protect the crop from birds. Each autumn, prune out the canes which have fruited over the summer, cutting them back to the base of the plant. Leave the remaining canes in place for fruiting in the following year. Aim to have 6 to 8 fruiting canes per plant. (If your plant does not fruit in the first year then there is no need to prune it at all until the following year, when you should remove only the canes which have produced fruit.) Apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the canes in spring. This will help to retain moisture throughout the summer.

  1. Dead plant supplied yet no response from 'customer care' team

    By Francesca Peterson 22-03-2017

Ordered two of these. One has thrived, one - which appeared to be in poor condition on arrival - has died. Have emailed twice - with photos - three days apart but no response, not even an acknowledgement. Have also tried to ring three times and on all occasions been left on hold for more than five minutes. Poor quality products from a poor quality company. Wish I'd read the reviews on Google before buying from this outfit.
