Pot up hollyhocks and grow them on until large enough to plant outdoors. When they well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days, before planting out in sunny borders in fertile, well drained soil. Choose a position that is sheltered from strong winds. Space hollyhock plants at least 60cm (24") apart to improve air circulation and help prevent hollyhock rust.
Feed and water regularly until hollyhocks are fully established. Support their tall stems with bamboo canes as the flower spikes develop. In autumn, cut back the old foliage and faded hollyhock flower stems, and apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant.

Bee-autiful Halo Hollyhocks
By Siva Siva 14-08-2012
II purchased these beautiful hollyhocks from Thompson & Morgan in 2011 and these are in flower in 2012. Bumble bees are loving these plants and so do I. Highly attractive and highly recommended. Thriving nicely in clay soil.
