Chilli Demon Red Plant Competition in association with West Dean Chilli Fiesta

We’ve teamed up with West Dean Chilli Fiesta to launch a new plant competition element for 2016. Whether you grow chillies every year or want to give them a go for the first time this season, your plants could win you prizes - simply bring them along to the event, (timings to be confirmed) and you could win £100 of Thompson & Morgan vouchers. First place winners will also win a trophy, with rosettes and smaller voucher prizes for second and third places.

You will be able to enter two categories.

Class 1:

Best Chilli Demon Red Plant - grown from Thompson & Morgan seed, supplied at start of season. Must be grown in a 2 litre pot.

Prizes:
• 1st place: Winner’s Trophy and rosette and £100 T&M; voucher
• 2nd place: Rosette and £50 T&M; voucher
• 3rd place: Rosette. and £25 voucher

Class 2:

Open class - any variety grown in any size pot - must be grown from seed in 2016.

Prizes:
• 1st place: Winner’s Trophy and rosette and £100 T&M; voucher
• 2nd place: Rosette and £50 T&M; voucher
• 3rd place: Rosette. and £25 voucher

Thompson & Morgan is donating 1,000 packets of Chilli Demon Red Chilli for Class 1. The variety has been chosen for its suitability to windowsill growing - you won’t need a greenhouse to take part. Registration is open until midnight Wednesday 10th February. If there is still time, click here to register for your free seeds. Packets will be offered to the first 1,000 people to register.

Judging

The competition will be judged by West Dean Gardens Supervisor Sarah Wain and Thompson and Morgan’s gardening expert Kris Collins. They certainly know a thing or two about chillies! Plants will be judged on health appearance and yield.

West Dean Chilli Plant Competition rules:

• All plants entered into Class 1 must be of the variety Demon Red and must grown in a 2litre pot.
• All plants entered in both categories must be grown from seed started in 2016 - no overwintered plants.
• Only one plant per pot.
• One entry per person for Class One Demon Red.
• Multiple entries can be made in Class Two.
• By entering this competition, the winner agrees for their name and town and images to be featured in any promotional materials from West Dean/Thompson & Morgan relating to this competition.
