the fully grown plants of Kale Black Tuscany have attractive dark green, deeply savoyed, strap-like leaves with traditional winter hardiness, making this a useful winter to spring vegetable at a time when fresh garden produce is scarce. Kale Black Tuscany can also be grown as a baby salad leaf ingredient adding texture and a peppery taste to mixed salads.
For mature Kale transplant when large enough to handle, about 5 weeks from sowing, to 45cm (18in) between plants each way. Plant firmly and keep well watered until established.

The narrow leaves of this kale are held at an upward angle keeping them well clear of soil splashing. Attractive dark colour which is retained on cooking and a good strong flavour. Even quite large leaves are palatable raw and had a sweet taste.
