I am a bright orange, round carrot, not long and thin. I am very easy to look after and grow in the garden or in pots. Full of vitamins and antioxidants, I make a tasty snack in your lunchbox every day! Height: 20cms.
Did You Know? - The first carrots were not orange. The orange colour was developed in the 16th Century by Dutch farmers to match the colour of The House of Orange. Carrots can be yellow, orange, white and even purple.
Sow me outside April-June somewhere sunny. Rake the soil, removing any large stones. Make a trench about 1cm deep and sprinkle the seeds along the trench or sprinkle a few seeds in a big pot. Cover me with soil. Water the ground regularly especially when it is dry. You will see me growing after about 21 days.
You will need to thin me out so there is 10cm between each plant. You will be able to pick carrots from August onwards.
Carrots make a healthy, nutritious addition to your daily diet. They are high in Vitamin A and beta-carotene, and rich in antioxidants.
Try carrots pulled from the ground, washed and eaten straight away. Really tasty!
