Description

Semi-Bush (Semi-Determinate). Almost every home has ketchup. Children love it - it goes with so many things and it's very easy to make. Bred for ketchup, tomato juice or soup making.

Tomato Roma is very thick, juicy, nearly seedless and plum shaped tomato with a deliciously different flavour which makes it an excellent variety for eating fresh as well. Tomato Roma is very heavy cropping and disease resistant and can be grown outdoors or in the greenhouse.

Sowing Instructions

Sow seeds in early spring for greenhouse cultivation or mid spring for outdoor cultivation 6-8 weeks before last expected frost. Sow seed 6mm (¼in) deep in a good compost. Germination takes 6-14 days at 24C (75F).

Growing Instructions

Transplant the seedlings when large enough to handle into 7.5cm (3in) pots and when 15-23cm (6-9in) tall plant out 45cm (18in) apart in a prepared greenhouse border soil, growbag, 23cm (9in) pots or ring culture.

To grow outdoors harden off and plant out after all risk of frost, 45cm (18in) apart in a sunny spot on light, rich, well drained soil. Provide a stake and treat as above.

Aftercare

Remove side shoots as they appear. This variety stops growing upwards when it has reached about 1.2m (4ft). Feed regularly once the first truss has set.
