Sow late winter to mid spring at 21-24C (70-75F) on the surface of a good seed compost and gently firm down. Keep damp but not wet. Do not exclude light, sealing in a polythene bag after sowing is helpful. Germination usually takes 10-21 days.

When seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow on in cooler conditions. Gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions for 10-15 days before planting out after all risk of frost, 30cm (12in) apart in a sunny spot on light well drained soil. For pot plants, transplant seedlings into 7.5cm (3in) pots; grow cool, well ventilated, give plenty of light, but shade from direct sun.

  1. Lovely flower but not suited to wind and rain

    By Thomas Grant 08-09-2011

They were a lovely flower, original and very striking. I am not sure if they suit a wet and windy climate because every time it rained and we had a bit of wind the flowers were devastated and the plants had to start all over again. So I may be a bit reluctant to purchase this particular petunia again. I had some Rose Vein Petunia seeds from you and they were beautiful and no trouble in the rain and wind.
