Perennial & Biennial Seeds


Biennials live for 2 years, whereas perennials live for longer. As a general rule, biennial and perennial seeds should be sown in spring, but some can be sown in autumn as well. Many varieties will self-seed after flowering, giving you even more plants!

Cardinal Flower, Lobelia fulgens, Lobelia splendens

Tall spikes of deep maroon foliage topped by glowing scarlet blooms bring a welcome splash of late summer colour, when many flowers have already faded. This exotic looking, short lived perennial is ideal for filling gaps in damp borders, and looks spectacular planted beside ponds and streams. Height: 90cm (36”). Spread: 30cm (12”).

Penstemon digitalis 'Husker Red'

Beard Tongue

A plant collector's item for decades. Husker Red is an unusual Penstemon offering maroon-red , occasionally bronze-green foliage when grown from seed. This is coupled with contrasting spikes of blushed pink flowers making useful late summer colour for borders. Height: 50-75cm (20-30in).
