Centratherum intermedium 'Pineapple Sangria'

Brazilian Button

Perennial

Attractive, fluffy, lavender-blue, button-like flowers approx 2cm (¾in) across are produced all summer on bushy plants with unusual, pineapple fragrant foliage. Very heat and drought tolerant, attracting butterflies and adding fragrance to borders or containers. Height 50-60cm (20-24 inches).

Position:
full sun
    • 1 packet (25 centratherum seeds)

    •
    • Despatch: by Monday
    • £0.99
Sow February-April on the surface of a good free draining, damp, seed compost and place at a temperature of 20-22C (69-75F). Lightly cover the seed with vermiculite. Place in a propagator or seal container inside a polythene bag until after germination which usually takes 14-21 days. Do not exclude light as this helps germination.

Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into trays or 7.5cm (5in) pots. Gradually acclimatise plants to cooler conditions for a few weeks before planting out after all risk of frost, 30-45cm (12-18in) apart.

Seeds and garden supplies will normally be delivered within the time period stated against each product as detailed above.

Despatch: Within 24 hours applies to orders placed online from Sunday to Thursday. Orders placed online on Friday or Saturday will be despatched on Monday. Please note that for Bank Holiday weekends, orders placed Friday to Sunday will be despatched on Tuesday.

  1. Wow, do butterflies love these. Beautiful, long flowering plants.

If I need photos of butterflies, I know where to go in my garden. I have lots of other fruit, veg. and flowers, but they prefer these. I went to collect seeds from these plants today, (5/11/13) and the seed heads are full of just sprouted baby pineapple sangria plants. I have transplanted these. We'll see how they go.
