Rudbeckia hirta 'Cherokee Sunset' (Garden Ready)

Coneflower, Black-eyed Susan

Half-hardy Annual

  • Enjoy the hot colours of rudbeckia, even when it's cool in your garden!
  • The fast-track to a hassle-free garden - just plant, water and enjoy!
  • Quality plants delivered to your door, hardened off and ready to plant out
  • Fully-grown, super-robust, healthy plants
Our garden ready plants are selected for garden performance, straight from the nursery. We send them to you 'green' ahead of flowering (but please note some varieties may show a few blooms), which means plants will establish quickly and all their energy goes into producing better roots, so they produce more flowers throughout the season.

As a result of over 10 years breeding and selection by T&Ms flower breeders, Rudbeckia Cherokee Sunset® was born. Never before has there been such a spectacular range of colours of fully double to semi-double Rudbeckia, with large 3-4in blooms. Shades of golden yellow, orange, bronze and mahogany make up this stunning blend that resembles the attractive colour spectrum of an Indian Sunset. Vigorous, free branching plants, with strong stems, which flower over a long period from mid summer to early autumn. Cherokee Sunset® is outstanding for adding height, colour and interest to beds, borders and large containers. Also makes an impressive cut flower. T&M are proud to be the first UK packet seed company to have an All American Selection Winning variety from its own breeding programme. This prestigious award is presented to varieties that have outstanding garden performance, quality blooms, a unique colour range and that show a significant improvement over existing varieties of the species.

Pot up rudbeckia plants and grow them on in frost free conditions for transplanting outdoors later on. When plants are well-grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them outdoors in sun or partial shade. Rudbeckia enjoys a fertile, preferably heavy soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. Coneflowers resent drought and dislike soils that dry out in summer
Feed and water rudbeckia plants regularly. Deadhead faded rudbeckia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced.

  1. Beautiful plants.

    By Jo White 24-08-2016

I brought these to fill some gaps. They are brilliant! Just as the garden is starting to look a bit tired these are just looking their best. Seem equally at home in large pots or in my flower beds. T and M are great too - the first batch I recieved were damaged by inappropriate courier handling, so they quickly and without quibble, sent me a second batch which were perfect. Thoroughly recommended!

  2. Cut Flowers All Summer

    By Zoe Procommenos 16-08-2016

Absolutely fantastic! I've had an endless supply of cut flowers and they have lasted a good 2 weeks each time.... and even then they don't look too bad when I've binned them and refreshed the vases. 10 out of 10 for these!
