Pot up Lysimachia punctata plants and grow them on in frost-free conditions for transplanting outdoors later on. When loosestrife plants are well grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them in sunny or partially shaded borders. Prior to planting, incorporate plenty of well-rotted manure or compost into the soil. Grow Lysimachia in a fertile, moist soil that does not dry out in summer. Dotted loosestrife will happily grow in clay soils, at the margins of a pond or in a bog garden.
Water Lysimachia plants regularly until fully established. In autumn, cut back old faded stems to ground level. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Lysimachia punctata in spring to maintain their vigour. Apply a mulch of well-rotted manure or compost to the base of the plants each spring.
