Pot up Alstroemeria plants and grow them on in frost free conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When all risk of frost has passed, plant Peruvian Lilies in a sunny or semi shaded position in fertile, moist, well drained soil. Alternatively, plant Alstroemeria in patio containers in soil based compost such as John Innes No.3.
These tall Alstromeria plants will appreciate a climbing frame or similar support to protect their tall stems. Insert the support into the ground prior to planting and tie the stems in with soft twine throughout the growing season.
Throughout the growing season, water Peruvian lilies regularly and feed container grown plants each month. When picking alstroemeria pluck the flowers rather than cutting as plucking stimulates the rhizome encourage further growth. In autumn, cut back the old Alstroemeria flower stems and apply a dry mulch of chipped bark or straw to the base of the plant to protect it from cold winter weather. Alstroemeria prefers to be left undisturbed but can be divided in autumn or spring if clumps become overcrowded.Caution: irritant to skin and eyes.

When I saw these advertised I was quite excited as we buy the cut flowers for displays. The 3 plug plants arrived and looked rather sad and no where near as big as the photo of 'your plants being checked prior to dispatch'. 3 weeks on from arrival, they have barely moved on - the claims of "With so many long-stemmed blooms, you will never be short of cut flowers to add to magnificent bouquets. Height: 140cm (55"). Spread: 75cm (30")." seems like a long, long way off! I did contact customer services about this on May 3rd, sending a photograph by e-mail on 12th May to no response. I will have to think hard about using this company again sadly, as they used to be very good.

Sent these direct to my mother as a birthday present. Is it meant to be 3 or 5 plants? Here it says 3, but the confirmation email said 5. Which is it? Only 3 were delivered anyway. A couple of days after dispatch, I received an email saying they would not be dispatched until the end of May. I emailed customer service to ask why I received this email when they had already been delivered. This was two weeks ago and I have had no response. The plants were also delivered with no indication of what the plants were or how to care for them. Shoddy! I will not use Thompson & Morgan again.
