Tubers are ideal for containers and baskets, making a larger plant in the first year than plug plants or growing from seed. From February, start tuberous begonias off in well-drained, moist compost in a warm, frost-free position in bright light. When planting begonia tubers, position them just below the compost surface with the indented side facing upwards. In hanging baskets the tubers can be planted at a 45 degree angle with their roots toward the centre, to encourage plants to cascade over the sides of the basket. When begonia plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days, before planting them in their final positions. Choose a sunny or semi shaded position that is protected from strong winds.
Feed and water begonia plants frequently throughout the growing season taking care not to over-water, as this will cause new begonia flower buds to drop. Deadhead the single female begonia flowers to encourage more of the large double male flowers to be produced and to extend the flowering period.

Wrong tubers sent & no reply from Customer Care!
By Liz Sherratt 13-06-2015
I ordered some of these as part of a "Bumper Collection", but none of the bulbs/tubers are actually the ones which were supposed to be sent. Instead of the Apricot Shades I've just got a bag of "Begonia Mixed" - very disappointing. :) No idea even if these have a trailing habit. Also the tubers are very small & don't look that healthy.
The live plants in the delivery were worse! There was a DVD & some leaflets in the package which had slipped down & broken off the growing shoots.
I eMailed Customer Care & got a reply back saying that they were very busy & so wouldn't be able to reply in their usual timescales. Considering that last time, which was 'normal', I had to eMail a 2nd time and it took 4 days to get a reply, I don't hold out much hope this time.
I have ordered from T&M in the past & been very pleased with both seeds and plants, but this year the standards seem to have dropped. Very, very disappointing.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry to learn of your disappointment with your order and the service you have received. I have replied to your email, so please check your inbox.

I love these begonia tubers. So easy to grow in my hanging baskets and planters. Abundance of flower heads all summer. I have bought some more this year as I only have to remember to plant and feed and then remove and keep dry over winter...
Well don't T&M....
