Tree Peony rockii

Paeonia

Hardy Shrub

 Customer Rating
A much sought-after variety. The tissue paper white blooms are splashed with deep burgundy at the base of each petal. There are few plants that can compete with the beauty of a tree peony in full bloom. A mature plant can boast in excess of a hundred exotic blooms, each measuring up to 25cm (10”) or more in diameter! These exceptional shrubs are hardy and disease resistant, and will continue to bloom for a lifetime. The exotic flowers of the tree peony are simply breathtaking in borders and make exquisite cut flowers for vases indoors. Supplied as a single stem, 2 year old bareroot plant. Height and spread: 150cm (60”).

Grow tree peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position that is sheltered from cold winds and shaded from strong early morning sunlight. They prefer a well drained, rich fertile soil. This is best achieved by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or compost to the soil prior to planting, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Plant tree peonies so that the grafted union sits at least 10cm (4") below the soil surface. Shallow planting may hinder establishment and delay flowering.
Water regularly until plants are fully established. Prune tree peonies in spring whilst dormant, removing crossing and damaged stems to create a healthy open framework. After pruning, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or compost around the base of the plant. Caution: All parts are harmful if eaten.

  1. EXPECTING GOOD THINGS

    By Tracy Sims 08-05-2013

Just arrived and as with all bare root plants they look a litle sad and bewildered, however, that said it has a good amount of root and has arrived with some small shoots, so am expecting it to do well.

  2. Wait and see

    By Grace Sparks 18-12-2011

Arrived last year looking rather sad and lost all flower buds after planting. Acclimatised to the garden over the past year and seems to be doing well and hardier than I'd thought. It has not yet flowered, so waiting to see if it will do so in the new year.
