Plant Gardenia 'Kleim's Hardy' in sheltered borders or containers in any well drained, rich fertile, neutral to acid soil. Choose a sheltered position in dappled or semi shade. Water regularly until gardenia plants are fully established. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the soils acidity over time.
Feed hardy gardenia plants regularly throughout the growing season with a balanced liquid fertilizer. Whilst this variety of gardenia is perfectly hardy, it will appreciate some winter protection during particularly cold periods. In very cold climates, container-grown plants may be moved to a cool, frost-free position for the winter. In spring, lightly prune stems to maintain their shape.

This was ordered at the beginning of October 2011, and received exactly the care suggested from its delivery. In the 31/2 years since then it has not grown at all, its leaves have repeatedly turned yellow and dropped, and as for flowers - last summer it had one tiny 1inch wide flower! Amazing, considering its general ill-health and stuntedness. I've even tried moving it from the garden into a pot this year, in the hope that it would help - but no. It's dropped its tiny yellow leaves yet again, and is growing new ones, but they turn yellow before long, and the whole thing repeats itself. What a disappointment! Has anyone had success with this plant? Or is the whole stock simply diseased?

Exactly the same feeling as Trevor - there has been absolutely no change or growth seen in this since planting a couple of months ago - in fact, it looks completely sorry for itself. Its been watered and fed, enjoys a nice sunny/shaded spot but nothing. Very disappointed.
