Pot up clematis plants and grow them on until large enough to plant in their final positions. When planting clematis, choose a position in sun or semi-shade and plant the climber deeply in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Position the top of the rootball at a depth of 7.5cm (3") below soil level, to encourage new shoots to form from the base of the plant. Clematis dislike soils that are particularly wet or dry. Such soils can be improved by the addition of plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost. When growing clematis in patio containers use a soil based compost such as John Innes No.3. Train Clematis armandii plants onto a suitable support such as trellis, wires or a large pergola.
Feed and water frequently throughout the growing season. This variety of clematis flowers in early spring on the previous year's growth. Pruning should be undertaken in summer, after flowering. When pruning Clematis armandii, remove any damaged or dead stems entirely before cutting back the remaining stems to a pair of healthy buds to maintain the plant within it's alloted space. In spring, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant in order to protect the roots and conserve soil moisture.

By susanna loddo-hassan 25-07-2015
My plant arrived as "sleeping"and after a month and an half no signs of life. no stems of sign of growing. At all. Same for 6 of my 12 strawberry bare roots.
I sent an email to the customer care two weeks ago and I have received no answer.
Natalie, DO NOT EVEN TRY TO COPY AND PAST THE SAME MESSAGE AS ABOVE.
I'v spent 380 pounds buying plants in this website. The customer care do not replies to the emails and the website is full of the same identical message as above.
Thank you for your review. I am sorry for the disappointments with your order, and that you have not received a response to your email. I have located your email on our systems and responded accordingly.
do not buy!
By anthony buckley 12-09-2014
I purchased two of these and I'm absolutely disgusted in the condition that these plants arrived in. First and most importantly they both arrived with clematis wilt meaning I've had to cut the plant right back to the stem. I would've been better off buying the seeds! Not what I expected from a reputable company.
