A recent introduction, Veronica spicata 'Bubblegum Candles' is a free-flowering variety that makes a fabulous patio plant. Short, pink flower spikes are borne in profusion throughout summer above the bright green foliage. This neat little perennial has a compact, clump-forming, spreading habit that works beautifully in containers or planted at the front of borders. Also makes a useful plant for wildlife areas where it attracts bees and butterflies. Height: 20cm (10"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Pot up Veronica plants and grow them on in warm, frost-free conditions until plants are well grown. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions over 7-10 days before planting out in their final positions. Choose a sunny or semi-shaded position in moist, fertile, well drained soil. Veronica prefers a fertile, humus rich soil so work some well rotted manure or garden compost into the soil prior to planting.
More Info Deadhead faded veronica flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. In autumn, cut back old foliage and apply a mulch of well rotted manure to the base of the plant.
