Description
Black Eyed Susan is a popular climber, with more than enough vigour to cover your trellis and obelisks in one growing season! The hairy leaves and twining stems form a handsome backdrop for the bright blooms. Each warm-orange flower has a distinctive black eye that creates a strong colour contrast. Although usually grown as an annual climber in the UK, if grown in a warm conservatory Thunbergia alata 'Sunny Susy Red-Orange’ will remain a tender, evergreen perennial. Height: 180cm (71"). Spread: 40cm (16").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 9cm potted thunbergia plant (KB4204)

How to Grow
Pot up plugs and grow them on in warm, frost free conditions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise planyts to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days before planting outdoors in their final positions. Plant Thunbergia in any fertile, moist, well drained soil. Choose a sheltered position in full sun or semi shade. Alternatively plant Black-Eyed Susan in patio containers using a good quality compost. Provide a support for their twining stems such as an obelisk or trellis.
More Info
Feed and water regularly, especially when grown in a conservatory. Thunbergia does not require pruning except as and when necessary to contain the stems within their allotted space.
