Description
Spidery blue blooms that resemble Cornflowers create a dramatic focal point, even from a distance! The semi-evergreen foliage forms a basal rossette, with branching stems and a profusion of flowers from summer right through to autumn, which always attract attention from pollinating insects. Stokesia laevis 'Mel's Blue' forms a naturally rounded shape that is well suited to the front of borders or a container on the patio. This hardy perennial is ideal for acid soils, making a great alternative to Asters and a striking cut flower for late season bouquets. Height: 40cm (16"). Spread: 30cm (12").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Plant Stokesia in moist well-drained soil in full sun. Stokesia prefers an acid soil. Where soil pH is more alkaline, grow Stokesia in containers using an ericaceous compost. Avoid wet soils which may cause Stoke’s Asters to rot.
More Info
Feed and water Stokesia regularly while establishing. The stems benefit from staking to prevent them flopping over when in full flower. Deadhead regularly to encourage more blooms.
