Part of the 'Summerina' series - a unique cross between annual Rudbeckia and perennial Echinacea! These extraordinary perennials boast a multitude of cheery golden daisies with chocolate centres and a dark black cone. These compact, bushy plants form dense clumps of slightly hairy, dark green foliage on strong upright stems that make particularly good cut flowers, and loved by bees and butterflies. Rudbeckia 'Summerina Pecan Pie' continues to provide interest even after the flowers fade; their cone-like seedheads creating interesting autumn silhouettes. This hardy perennial is perfect for filling gaps and adding long lasting colour to perennial borders and patio containers. Try mixing them with grasses for a lovely prairie effect. Height and spread: 60cm (24").

How to Grow
Pot up rudbeckia plants and grow them on for transplanting outdoors later on. When plants are well-grown, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over a period of 7 to 10 days before planting into their final positions. Grow rudbeckia plants in sun or semi shade. Rudbeckia enjoys a fertile, preferably heavy soil that is rich in organic matter and well drained. Coneflowers resent drought and dislike soils that dry out in summer.
More Info
Feed and water rudbeckia plants regularly. Deadhead faded rudbeckia flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Cut plants down to the crown at the end of the season and cover with a dry mulch of straw or wood chippings to protect from winter extremes.
