This dwarf, hardy and compact duo of Rhododendrons are perfect for brightening up even the smallest patio corner, mixed border or planted at the edge of a woodland area.
Awarded a prestigious RHS AGM, Rhododendron 'Gristede' is a compact variety with a neat growth habit. This dwarf evergreen Rhododendron produces a prolific display of purple, funnel shaped blooms in April that virtually covers the dark evergreen foliage. Rhododendron 'Ramapo' is a particularly tough variety, hardy in very low temperatures, and even tolerating full sun. The mauve flowers appear from April above attractive blue-green foliage which remains evergreen in winter.
This duo is made up of Rhododendron 'Gristede' and Rhododendron 'Ramapo'. Height: 75cm (30"). Spread: 100cm (39").
Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Grow Rhododendrons in moist, well drained, acid soil that has been enriched with plenty of well rotted organic matter. Choose a position in semi or dappled shade with shelter from cold drying winds. Many dwarf Rhododendrons can cope with a sunny position provided that the soil remains reliably moist. Where soil conditions are alkaline, Rhododendron plants are best grown in patio containers, using a mix of ericaceous compost and a soil based compost such as John Innes No. 3. Rhododendrons are surface rooting so it is important to avoid planting them too deeply.
Water Rhododendron plants regularly throughout the growing season. Where possible, use rainwater as the lime contained in tap water will reduce the acidity in the soil over time. Feed Rhododendrons in spring with a slow release fertiliser for acid-loving plants. Protect plants from cold winter winds. Border grown Rhododendrons will appreciate an autumn mulch to protect their shallow roots from winter cold. Take care not to mound the mulch too close to the stem as this may cause it to rot. If necessary, lightly prune Rhododendron plants in June to remove damaged shoots and restrict size.
