This unusual perennial makes an exotic patio climber or conservatory focal point. The twining stems are cloaked in attractive, heart-shaped leaves. From July through to autumn, the maroon-red, pendant blooms dangle from the stems producing an intriguing display.

Rhodochiton atrosanguineus requires frost free conditions. Container-grown plants should be moved to a frost free greenhouse in winter. Plants grown in borders are unlikely to survive the winter outdoors and are therefore best treated as annuals. Height: 250cm (98"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Flowering Months
Feed and water Rhodochiton plants regularly. Train stems onto an obelisk or against a fence or wall, to support them as they grow. Rhodochiton atrosanguineus requires frost free conditions. Cut back the old stems, and move container-grown plants to a frost free greenhouse in autumn. Reduce watering during the winter months, keeping the soil barely moist. Plants grown in borders are unlikely to survive the winter outdoors and are therefore best treated as annuals.
Pot up Rhodochiton plants and grow them on in warm, frost free conditions until plants are well grown. When all risk of frost has passed, gradually acclimatise to outdoor conditions. Plant out in patio containers or borders in any moist, well-drained soil. Choose a sheltered position in full sun and provide support for its climbing stems.

Orders for packets of seed incur a delivery charge of £1.95.

Orders which include any other products will incur a delivery charge of £4.95.

Where an order includes both packets of seeds and other products, a maximum delivery charge of £6.90 will apply - regardless of the number of items ordered.

Large items may incur a higher delivery charge - this will be displayed in your shopping basket.
