Description
Commonly known as Red-Hot Cat's Tail, for its furry, long red blooms. This upright shrub makes a superb conservatory specimen, draped in pendulous blooms throughout the summer. Young plants can even be grown in indoor hanging baskets. The flowers can trail up to 45cm in length on mature plants! This eye-catching, tropical plant remains evergreen all year round, and requires minimal maintenance. Height: 250cm (98"). Spread: 150cm (59").

1 packet (5 seeds) (KB5910)

Sowing

Sow seeds on the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost, then lightly cover, 3mm (1/8”) deep with vermiculite or compost. Place container in a propagator or seal inside a polythene bag at a temperature of 20C (68F) until after germination which usually takes 21-28 days. Transplant seedlings when large enough to handle into larger pots and position in a well lit room.

More Info

Grown Acalypha in a warm bright conservatory, which remains frost free in winter. Feed and water freely in summer. In winter, reduce watering to keep the compost just moist.
