Flowering Months

British native, Ranunculus lingua 'Grandiflorus' is a tall marginal aquatic. This hardy perennial has blue-green foliage and a loose, clump forming habit that makes it ideal for disguising pond edges. From June to August, golden buttercup flowers are carried on tall stems, attracting plenty of pollinating insects. Large-flowered Greater Spearwort is an ideal marginal plant for larger wildlife ponds, lakes and streams where it has plenty of space to spread. Height and spread: 100cm (39"). Planting depth: Zones 2 and 3 to 30cm (12") below water level.

How to Grow

Grow Ranunculus lingua submerged in the margins of ponds and streams with the crown to a maximum depth of up to 30cm (12") below water level. Choose a position in sun or semi shade.

Deadhead faded stems to prolong flowering. In autumn, cut back old stems to just above water level to make way for new growth in the spring.
