Description
Candelabras of crimson red flowers are borne above loose rosettes of foliage in late spring. The distinctive flowers of Primula japonica form evenly spaced tiers on stiff, upright stems. Japanese Primroses thrive in damp, dappled shade making them useful perennials for woodland plantings, bog gardens and the damp soil close to the edges of ponds. Height and spread: 45cm (18").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Choose a semi-shaded position on rich, fertile, moist, well drained soil. Primula japonica will also thrive in a peaty, acid soil and can also tolerate a position in full sun if the soil remains reliably moist.
More Info
Water regularly during hot, dry periods to prevent the soil from drying out. Deadhead faded primula flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Divide over-crowded clumps between late autumn and early spring
