Description

Holding an RHS Award of Garden Merit, Primula denticulata is an incredibly versatile little perennial. Tolerant of shade and poorly drained conditions, it is ideal for pondside or streamside planting and boggy areas. However, drumstick primrose is equally happy in containers or at the front of borders, even in full sun so long as the soil is moist. Vivid blue-purple flowers are produced in tight, pom-pom-like globes on upright stems from April to June, which blend beautifully with ferns, hostas and other shade plants. Height and spread: 30cm (12in).

How to Grow
Primula denticulata is tolerant of almost any soil conditions and can be grown in either sun or shade, so long as the soil is moist if grown in full sun. However, its ideal conditions are moist, humus-rich soil in partial shade. Water regularly during hot, dry periods to prevent the soil from drying out. Deadhead faded primula flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced and divide over-crowded clumps between late autumn and early spring.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
