Early Maincrop
Try the world’s first commercially available Potato raised directly from seed! Potato ‘Adessa’ is a breeding breakthrough, allowing gardeners to grow potatoes without the need for ‘chitting’ tubers first. Better still, they make great container plants for growing on the patio, so you can grow your own spuds in the smallest of gardens.
Potato ‘Adessa’ produces high yields with an excellent flavour. The elongated tubers boast firm, yellow flesh that won’t disintegrate during cooking.
This innovative early maincrop is supplied as plug plants which can be potted up, and get growing straight away. So if you forgot to order your tubers at the start of the year, there’s no need to panic – just add these plants to your basket and receive them at the same time as your other veggie plants! Height and spread: 90cm (36").

Pot up Potato plug plants and grow them on in warm, frost free conditions. When plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, plant them out in their final containers or in well prepared open ground, in a sheltered position in full sun on moist well drained soil. Dig in plenty of well rotted manure. Plant potatoes in rows at a spacing of 30cm (12”). Rows should be set out 60cm (2’) apart.
Weed between rows and keep potato plants well watered throughout the growing season. If the risk of frost threatens, draw some soil up around the stems to protect them, or move potato bags to a frost free position in a shed or greenhouse. Early maincrop varieties can be harvested approximately 15 weeks from planting when the foliage begins to turn yellow and die back.

Thompson & Morgan strives to ensure that all its plants are delivered to you in the perfect condition for planting. While the majority of our nursery plants cope well with slight delays in intransit, sadly, the time it takes to deliver to certain locations in the UK means that we can't guarantee this for some of our smaller plug products and tender bedding and vegetable lines, which do not respond well to the extra journey time. So regretfully while we offer the majority of our live plant offering nationwide, we are unable to ship plugs, begging plants and tender vegetable plants to the following areas: HS, IV41-IV49, IV51, IV55-56, KW15-KW17, PA34, PA41-48, PA60-PA78, PA80, PH40-PH44, TR21-TR24, ZE1-ZE3
