Description

The elaborate and impressive Oriental Poppy ‘Patty’s Plum’ bursts into bloom from the beginning of the summer. Their huge flowers formed of resilient papery petals are held above sturdy, upright stems, making a big impact in beds and borders. Flowers in a luxurious shade of dusky pink open to reveal a striking black centre and are often visited by bees and other pollinators. Once the flowers have faded, leave the stems intact and allow them to form seedheads - wild birds will love picking out the seeds, plus they looks great when they catch a frost. Height: 90cm (18”). Spread: 40cm (16”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
When growing Oriental Poppies, choose a sunny position in rich fertile, well drained soil. Add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil prior to planting, mixing it thoroughly and deeply.
More Info
Deadhead faded poppy flowers to encourage more blooms to be produced. Cut back old foliage to ground level in autumn. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps of Oriental poppy in spring.
