Description
Polyscias balfouriana is an unusual houseplant that loves those tricky shaded positions, away from bright, sunny windows. This slow growing plant develops an upright tree-like appearance with a woody trunk and beautiful canopy of variegated, scallop-edged leaves. Because it is slow growing and stiffly upright in habit, you can be sure that it will remain neat and compact for many years, reaching a maximum height of 1.5m (59"). Height: 150cm (59"). Spread: 60cm (24").

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

Please note: Some houseplants are toxic or harmful to pets if ingested. If you believe your pet has consumed a poisonous plant then seek veterinary attention immediately. Take a sample of the plant with you.

How to Grow
Although quite easy to grow, Polyscias needs careful placement if it is to thrive. Aralias dislike being moved and tend to shed their leaves if repositioned, so it is worth taking care to find the right spot from the outset. Position in a bright room, away from cold draughts and radiators, with a constant temperature above 16C (60F). Ideally Polyscias should be grown in a shaded corner of a bright room, well away from the direct glare of the sun.
More Info
Water little and often to keep the compost reliably moist between spring and autumn. Allow the pot to drain well after each watering. In winter, reduce watering but do not allow the compost to dry out completely. House plants should be fed regularly between March and September when they are in active growth.
