Description
Commonly known as the Balloon flower, this charming species makes a lovely show in the rockery or at the front of perennial borders. Upright stems rise above neat clumps of foliage from late spring onwards. Each stems boasts a cluster of inflated, round buds that explode into deep, blue star-shaped flowers. Platycodon grandiflorus ‘Astra Blue’ is a sturdy, well-branched variety with good heat tolerance in summer. Height and spread: 45cm (18”).

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

How to Grow
Grow Platycodon plants in any, reliably moist, well-drained soil. Choose a position in full sun or semi-shade.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until plants are fully established. Platycodon is susceptible to slug and snail damage so take precautions early in the growing season. Cut back the faded flower stems and old foliage in autumn when it begins to die back naturally. Lift and divide overcrowded clumps in spring.
