Description
Phormium ‘Bronze Baby’ is a striking plant with sword-shaped leaves which arch, displaying its beautiful bronze colours making a real architectural statement. This is a compact variety which offers a dramatic statement with its purple-bronze foliage and in hot summers, some tubular red flowers will pop up from the centre which are then followed by robust seed-heads. They are wonderful when planted up in patio containers, or in borders, and looks particularly lovely when offset with gravel. It will appreciate full sun and at times some shade, and in the winter will need protecting for cold, harsh winds. Height and spread 60cm (24”).

1 x 1 litre potted phormium plant (KC0001)
2 x 1 litre potted phormium plants (KC0133)
1 x 5 litre potted phormium plant (KC0014)
2 x 5 litre potted phormium plants (KC0134)
1 x 9cm potted phormium plant (KC0031)
3 x 9cm potted phormium plants (KC0107)

How to Grow
Grow Phormium on fertile, well-drained soil. Choose a protected position in full sun. Phormiums are well suited to mild coastal locations and can cope in poorer soils, but do enjoy a fertile soil - so it is well worth incorporating some well-rotted manure into the soil when planting.
More Info
Feed and water regularly until fully established. Once established, Phormium need little attention, but will require some winter protection should temperatures dip much below-5C (23F). Where winters are particularly cold and wet, it may be preferable to grow Phormiums in large patio containers that can be moved undercover during the coldest months.
