Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
A particularly reliable and vigorous plant with breath-taking buttery-yellow, semi-double blooms which are brought to life by striking fiery centres. Peony 'Prairie Charm' makes excellent cut flowers, lasting over a week if picked in bud. This deciduous plant has dark green foliage with a compact, rounded habit and would look ideal at the front of a perennial border. Not only is this stunning plant rabbit and deer resistant, it is most attractive to butterflies and other pollinating insects. Height: 90cm (35"). Spread: 120cm (47").

Culinary note: The petals can be added to salads, or cooked slightly and sweetened for a treat. Peony water was also once considered a delicacy and the blooms can be floated in punches. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Flowering Months
Water regularly until peony plants are fully established. Thereafter, herbaceous peonies require little maintenance and will grow happily for many years if left undisturbed. However, they will appreciate a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost applied around the base of the plant in spring. Plants may take several years to establish before they produce their spectacular peony flowers.
Grow peonies in a sunny or semi shaded position. They prefer a well drained, rich fertile soil. This is best achieved by adding with plenty of well rotted manure or compost to the soil prior to planting, ensuring that it is mixed in thoroughly and deeply. Plant herbaceous peonies at a depth of around 5cm (2") below the soil surface. Planting too deeply may delay flowering.
