Description
This clump-forming, perennial grass, produces a multitude of arching, dark green, linear leaves that form a rounded clump. Purple-black flower spikes rise above the foliage from June through to September. Pennisetum alopecuroides 'Moudry' is best planted in groups for maximum impact in borders, but also creates a stunning display grown as a container plant on the patio. The leaves turn a golden yellow in autumn. The flower spikes fade to silver-grey making a lovely winter feature. Cut them to add to fresh or dried flower arrangements. Height and spread: 90cm (3').

Plant height and spread is seasonal therefore we list by pot size rather than a defined plant size. The height and spread of the plant delivered will vary depending on the season, meaning arrival images are an indication only.

1 x 3.6 litre potted pennisetum plant (KC0613)

How to Grow
Plant Fountain Grass into garden borders in any fertile, light, well drained garden soil, in full sun.
More Info
Take care not to overwater as Pennisetum plants may rot in over-wet soils. Although plants are hardy, they will benefit from the added protection of a dry mulch of bark or straw to protect the crown of the plant over the winter. Once you have enjoyed the autumn and winter interest of this plant, you should cut back any dead foliage and faded flowers in the spring.
