Passiflora caerulea 'Duuk' - Despite it's beauty, this is a very hardy, evergreen climber, with larger flowers than most other common passiflora and a delightful fragrance too. The deep blue filaments of 'Duuk' stand out against the pale petals, sometimes with just a hint of blue in them too, which adds to the exotic feel of this outstanding plant. Grow in a large container on one of our obelisks or use it to cover a fence or wall. However you choose to display Passiflora caerulea 'Duuk', you'll be pleased with the results! Height: 10m (32'). Spread: 2m (6').

Passiflora caerulea 'Silly Cow' - setting aside the whimsical name (named by the breeder as a term of endearment for a very close friend) - this is possibly one of the finest specimens of Passiflora caerula that there has ever been. Greatly sought after by collectors, the intense colouring of 'Silly Cow' sets it head and shoulders above the competition. The intense blue corona on the filaments are set off by the pure white petals below, almost looking from a distance like a large blue eyes surveying the garden. A very hardy variety of passion flower which can be grown in a large container and trained up one of our obelisks, over a pergola or gazebo, or against a wall or fence, where the dark, evergreen foliage will provide the perfect backdrop to show off the blooms! Height: 10m (32'). Spread: 2m (6').

Culinary note: The fruits of passiflora are edible, albeit somewhat unremarkable in taste. They can be used in preserves and desserts. P. edulis, grown under glass will produce the best fruit for eating. For more details about edible flowers click here.

How to Grow
Plant Passion flower plants into any moist, well drained soil. Choose a sunny position that is protected from cold winds in winter. Prior to planting, add plenty of well rotted manure or garden compost to the soil. When growing passion flower, be sure to provide the twining stems with an appropriate support such as trellis or wires attached to fences and pergolas.
More Info
Feed and water regularly throughout the growing season. In autumn, apply a mulch of well rotted manure or garden compost to the base of the plant. Pruning Passion flowers is best undertaken in spring. Prune out the oldest stems, and reduce the remaining stems to restrict their vigorous growth to the available space.
