Description Sowing More Info Delivery Reviews
This new and exciting, large flowered winter pansy has been bred to have a true trailing habit. The branching stems of Pansy 'Plentifall' bear masses of fragrant, colourful blooms that hold up better than larger-flowered types in rain and bad weather. Fill your hanging baskets with colour from autumn right through the coldest months of winter. Trails to: 45cm (18").

Culinary note: Some parts of these flowers are edible. The crystallised petals are great decorations for cakes and cookies, or they can be added straight to green salads for an injection of colour. For more details about edible flowers click here.

Grow pansies and violas in any well drained soil, in sun or semi shade. Feed and water frequently, but take care not to overwater in winter as this can cause root damage should the compost freeze. Deadhead faded pansy flowers before they set seed to prolong the flowering period.

Sow pansies in spring or autumn on the surface of a good seed compost and gently firm down. Spring sowings will give flowers during early summer, whilst summer and autumn sowings will bloom the following winter or spring. Place the seed tray in a propagator at a temperature of 15-20C (59-68F) or seal it inside a polythene bag. Keep the soil damp but not wet. Take care not to provide too high a temperature, as this can prevent germination. Do not exclude light as this aids germination which usually takes 14-21 days.

When pansy seedlings are large enough to handle, transplant and grow them on in cooler conditions until large enough to plant outdoors. When pansy plants are well grown and all risk of frost has passed, acclimatise them to outdoor conditions over 7 to 10 days. Transplant into well drained soil in baskets and containers outdoors in full sun or semi-shade. Over winter autumn sowings in a cold frame then plant out the following spring.

Pansy 'Plentifall' 2015-09-23

I grew this viola from T&M seed in 2015. It quickly produced vigorous plants that began flowering within 2 months of sowing and are still going strong in early autumn. The branching stems bear masses of flowers in shades of white, purple and a spirit lifting, bright golden yellow. There were supposed to be blues as well but the mixture did not produce any. The individual flowers are small but they hold up better than larger-flowered types in rain and bad weather and have great impact en masse. . I used them for the two huge clay pots on the kitchen terrace along with the long term plantings of gold variegated holly . Delightful and easy peasy

T&M replied on 2015-09-23: Thank you for taking the time to post your review. I am glad to hear that you have been happy with your order. I hope we can continue to be of service to you in the future.
