Description How to Grow More Info Delivery
This ornamental Shamrock is as versatile as it is pretty. Oxalis tetraphylla 'Iron Cross' is mainly grown for its clover-like, bright green leaves with a dark purple band at the base of each leaflet. From early summer, the distinctive foliage is paired with rosy pink, tubular flowers. This delightful clump forming perennial makes a highly decorative pot plant but is equally effective as ground cover in alpine troughs and rockeries, or added to mixed patio containers. Bulb size 4/5. Height and spread: 15cm (6").

Flowering Months
After flowering, allow the foliage to die back naturally before removing it. Oxalis bulbs require a short period of dormancy in summer during which time the compost should be allowed to dry out a little so that it is kept just moist. Resume feeding and watering when oxalis plants start into growth again.
Outdoors, grow oxalis plants in containers or in sheltered rockeries and borders. In frost prone areas it is best grown as a houseplant on a bright windowsill or in a conservatory or greenhouse. Plant oxalis corms at a depth of 3cm (1") in well drained, rich fertile soil, or for indoor cultivation, in a loam based compost such as John Innes No.2. Position in full sun or light shade.
