Description
Commonly known as Drooping Star of Bethlehem, this gently nodding perennial bulb makes a pretty display in late spring. Similar in stature to a bluebells, the strappy foliage of Ornithogalum nutans is green with a silvery stripe to the midrib of each leaf. The star-shaped blooms are white with an apple-green flush and sweet perfume, which makes an interesting addition to spring bouquets or a vase indoors. Plant them in borders or areas of informal grass where they will happily naturalise as the years go by. Height: 45cm (18”). Spread: 10cm (4”).

How to Grow
Plant Ornithogalum bulbs in any moist, well drained soil in full sun. Plant bulbs at a depth of 10cm (4”) and 10cm (4”) apart. For natural looking drifts of Star of Bethlehem flowers, gently cast them across the planting area and plant them where they land!
More Info
Water bulbs if necessary until they are fully established. When growing Ornithogalum, it is essential to allow the foliage to die back naturally as this will feed the bulb for the following year. Where bulbs are naturalised in grass, avoid mowing the area until their foliage has died back.

Caution: irritant to skin and eyes, harmful if eaten.
